Transforming and Resizing Images
Overview
If you're comfortable opening and saving your images, then you're ready to transform and resize them.
This basic skill will let you flip photos around, and let you make them bigger or smaller
so you can customize them to whatever fits your overall design. (Will insert images later.)
1. We will again use the 'banjo's image for this tutorial, so go ahead and open it in PE.
2. First, let's rotate the image so the banjoes are pointing upward.
Click Image --> Rotate --> 90 degrees Left --> OK.
This is the image you should wind up with:
3. Now that we've changed the way our banjoes face, maybe we'd like to resize them.
Click Image --> Resize --> Image Size
A dialogue box will pop up.
In the dialogue box, change the width to 400 pixels, and the height to 400 pixels --> OK.
This will make the banjoes expand:
4. But what if you don't want giant banjoes, just a bigger work space?
Click Image --> Resize --> Canvas Size
Another dialogue box will pop up.
In this dialogue box, change the width to 8 inches, and the height to 8 inches --> OK.
This will expand the white space around the photo:
Congratulations!
Now that you know how to transform and resize your photo, save this banjo image. You may want to experiment with your own creations, and the other tools PE offers. The "free transform" tool, for example, is a much more powerful way to transform your images. You can use your new image in a variety of circumstances, such as in a school project, on your website, or in a brochure. If you get stuck and need help, don't worry -- just to return to APE Helpers
